Young Atelier el Masrah theatre troupe was founded in 2010 by the director, Shady El Dali, in collaboration with the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University - which is based in Cairo, Egypt - evolving from the faculty's original theatre troupe; Atelier el Masrah that was founded by the great director, Samir el Assfoury, in 1973 with a leading history in Helwan University's theatre competition. Young Atelier consists of more than 30 members, all of which are Fine Arts students and graduates.

Six plays are the product of Young Atelier el Masrah so far; The Losers (2010), The Dolphins' Musical (2011), Endless Laughter (2012), Not Yet (Kassel – Germany 2012), Made In China (2013) and A Plastic Dream; the second collaboration between Young Atelier and Moviemiento Germany (2013) The team is currently working on reperforming Endless Laughter & A Plastic Dream in Cairo.

The director

An Egyptian actor and theatre director.
Born in Cairo, 5 January 1979.
Bachelor of Fine Arts (2000).
Diploma in Art Criticism (2003).
A short scholarship to study theatre in Amsterdam School of the Arts, Holland (2005).
Worked as a theatre director in:
• From 3:30 to 5:30 (2000)
• Cairo Night Notes (Cairo – Amsterdam) with kristof persyn (2007).
• My End Song ( Cairo ) with kristof persyn (2008).

• The Losers, The Dolphins' Musical, Endless Laughter, Made in China for Atelier el Masrah (Faculty of Fine Arts) – Cairo. The 4 performances won first prize in Helwan University's theatre competition in (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013), In addition to Best directing prize in 2013 for Made in China.
• Not Yet with Atelier el Masrah in "Temporary Home" art project – Kassel, Germany (2012).

• A Plastic Dream with Atelier el Masrah which was performed 3 times in Berlin, Germany (2013).
